March/April 2013 Issue

The March/April 2013 issue is in the mail and you should be receiving it shortly. Updated information for our annual National Reunion is included as well as information and a registration form for this summer’s Sam Davis Youth Camps. Marshall DeRosa contributes the Sesquicentennial series article titled The Rationalization of American Militaristic Imperialism. Subtitled A Case Study of President Lincoln’s War on the Confederacy, this essay digs deep into the history of our country showing the relationship of our War for Independence with the Spanish American War and WWI. I think you will find it interesting and informative. Plus all of our usual features are included.

January/February 2013 Issue

Our January/February 2013 issue is at the printer and should be in the mail to you by the end of the week. This issue is the first one to be available on-line to members. This is an experiment and we have have several requests for this feature. You will be able to read the Confederate Veteran on your iPad, iPhone, Mac, PC or other device. Details on how to download will be sent out in the SCV Telegram. Our Sesquicentennial series article is Lincoln's War On Southern Civilians by Walter Brian Cisco. Plus all of our usual features!

Elm Springs Christmas Tour


Elm Springs, headquarters for the Sons of Confederate Veterans, is one of the homes on the Maury County Christmas Historic Home Tour this year. The theme is "Prelude to the Battle of Franklin," which will highlight the siege of Columbia and the events leading up to the Battle of Franklin.
Tour hours are Friday, November 30, Noon to 7 PM and Saturday, December 1, 9 AM to 5 PM. Docents will be at all tour venues along with special events at each stop.
A Confederate encampment will be on the grounds at Elm Springs including cannon demonstrations.

September/October 2012 Issue

Our September-October 2012 edition was sent to the printer on August 2! Dr. Clyde Wilson returns with another in our Sesquicentennial Series titled R.E. Lee and the American Union. Our cover story is the restoration efforts at Richmond’s Oakwood Cemetery. Read about a donation of a Confederate battlefield near Mobile to a local camp, plus all of our usual features.
